Al-Ittihad secured a valuable victory over their guest, Al-Taawoun, after deciding the match with a 1-0 win in the game held on Saturday evening at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium as part of the 13th round of the Saudi Professional League.

The first half of the match ended goalless, with both sides displaying tactical caution, before Al-Ittihad managed to impose their rhythm at the start of the second half in search of taking the lead.

Mohannad Al-Shanqeeti scored the only goal of the match for Al-Ittihad in the 50th minute, capitalizing on a well-organized attack to give his team a valuable lead over Al-Taawoun.

Al-Shanqeeti's joy was cut short before the end, as he left the field injured in the 92nd minute, amid fan concerns about his health.

The final minutes saw additional excitement when the video assistant referee (VAR) disallowed a goal scored by Abdelfattah Adam in the 87th minute for Al-Taawoun due to offside.

With this victory, Al-Ittihad Jeddah increased their points to 23, moving up to fifth place and getting closer to the top four in the league standings.

Meanwhile, Al-Taawoun's points total remained frozen at 28, placing them in third position, still trailing Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal in the race for the top spot.
