Marc Bernal Decides on His Departure from Barcelona
Saturday 03-01-2026
Young midfielder Marc Bernal has made a decision regarding his near future, confirming his desire to remain with FC Barcelona and not leave during the current winter transfer window, a move that reflects his confidence in getting more opportunities during the second half of the season.

According to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo," 18-year-old Bernal is not considering going out on loan, despite his awareness of the need for match rhythm, as he believes the minutes he will play will increase with the team's congested schedule at the start of 2026.

The midfielder struggled with a gradual return after a severe knee injury kept him off the field for a year, but since his comeback in mid-September, he has participated in 10 out of 25 matches played by Barcelona, totaling 189 minutes across various official competitions.

The newspaper pointed out that the idea of loaning him out was previously raised, especially with interest from Girona, but it did not progress, given the clear stance of coach Hans Flick who does not want any shortage in the squad, along with the club management's lack of enthusiasm for the loan idea.

Bernal is appreciated by the technical staff, and his physical development and performance at the end of 2025 enhance his chances of playing a bigger role in the coming period. Although the player does not wish to leave, the door to reconsider the decision remains open until the end of January, given the length of the winter transfer window.
