The Truth About Bayern Munich Rejecting Osimhen
Friday 02-01-2026
The German club Bayern Munich recently declined to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, who is currently playing for Turkish club Galatasaray, despite his impressive performance with the Turkish team this season, according to the German website "TZ."

It is worth noting that Harry Kane, the top scorer for the Bavarian team, remains an undisputed key player, having scored 30 goals in 25 official matches this season. This makes the number 9 striker position at Bayern Munich not in need of reinforcement at the moment.

Osimhen, 27 years old, was presented to the Bavarian club through an English intermediary by Galatasaray, who is seeking financial revenue, while the player's contract extends until 2029 and his market value is estimated at around 75 million euros.

Osimhen began his journey with Galatasaray in the summer of 2024 on loan, before his contract was officially purchased from Napoli for 75 million euros. The player is currently participating in the Africa Cup of Nations, which means he would be ready to transfer to another club if the opportunity arises.

Osimhen had previously been linked with a move to Bayern Munich in 2023, and reports in 2024 mentioned a clause in his contract that allows him to leave Galatasaray if there is interest from any of 11 clubs from their preferred list, including Bayern Munich.

However, Bayern Munich's sporting director, Max Eberl, made it clear to the intermediary that the club currently does not need a new striker, and that any move to sign Osimhen would only be relevant if Harry Kane decides to leave the team after the end of the season.

Bayern Munich continues to closely monitor the transfer market to ensure they have a reliable replacement for Harry Kane, especially since permanently signing Nicolas Jackson, who is on loan from Chelsea, is not possible.
