Pascal Groß is close to leaving Borussia Dortmund during the winter transfer window, ahead of a return to Brighton in the English Premier League, according to Sky Sports Germany.

According to the same source, the 34-year-old midfielder has reached an agreement with Brighton, and negotiations between the two clubs have entered advanced stages.

Borussia Dortmund's sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, had indicated the possibility of limited changes to the team's roster during the winter transfer window. It has now become clear that Groß is one of these moves. Although his contract was set to expire next summer, Dortmund will receive, according to Sky Sports Germany, a financial compensation of nearly two million euros, in addition to potential bonuses of around one million euros.

Groß joined Dortmund in the summer of 2024 for seven million euros and played in 66 official matches, scoring one goal and providing 17 assists. However, his role diminished this season under coach Niko Kovač, as he featured in only 16 matches without scoring, contributing just two assists and playing 732 minutes.

On the other hand, Groß holds a special place among Brighton fans, having played a total of 261 matches for the English club between 2017 and 2024, during which he scored 32 goals and provided 53 assists, making his potential return a significant event in his career.
