The Richest Edition in the History of the Spanish Super Cup

The 2026 edition of the Spanish Super Cup will see a distribution of 23 million euros among the four teams participating in the semifinals, an increase of three million compared to the 2025 edition, when Barcelona received around 9 million euros as the champion, according to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo."

The tournament kicks off on Wednesday, January 7, with a match between Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao, followed by the second semifinal on Thursday, January 8, between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid. This will be the sixth edition of the tournament and the fifth consecutive one held in Saudi Arabia since the implementation of the four-team format in January 2020.

The prize money for the participating teams will increase from €19,648,489 in the previous edition to €23 million, distributed among Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid, and Athletic Bilbao.

In the 2025 edition, Barcelona received 9 million euros, including a minimum of 6 million, 1 million for reaching the semifinals, and 2 million for winning the title. Meanwhile, Real Madrid earned 7.15 million euros as runners-up, Athletic Bilbao received 2 million, and Mallorca got 850,000 euros.

On the general financial level, the tournament will generate revenues of 51,900,000 euros for the Spanish Football Federation, distributed as follows: sponsorship "27 million euros," organization and participation fees "11,500,000 euros," and television broadcasting rights "12,690,000 euros." Additionally, the remaining funds, approximately 28 million euros, are allocated to support amateur football.
