An Arab Country Nears Hosting the Saudi Super Cup for the New Season
The sports community's attention is turning towards Kuwait, which is now close to hosting the upcoming 2026 edition of the Saudi Super Cup, following significant progress in negotiations that have reached critical stages.
Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, the Kuwaiti Minister of Information and Culture, confirmed that there are official and serious efforts underway to host the Saudi Super Cup in the near future.
Al-Mutairi explained in statements to the "Al Arabiya" website that coordination and correspondence with the relevant authorities in Saudi Arabia have seen significant progress, paving the way for the final decision regarding the host country.
The Kuwaiti minister pointed out that organizing the Saudi Super Cup is part of the ministry's strategy to enhance Kuwait's presence in hosting major sporting events.
This move comes as a continuation of recent organizational successes, following Kuwait's hosting of the French Super Cup, scheduled to take place on January 8, 2026.
The English capital, London, previously hosted the Saudi Super Cup in 2015, 2016, and 2018, while Abu Dhabi hosted the 2023 edition of the tournament.
The latest edition of the Saudi Super Cup was held in Hong Kong, where Al-Ahli Club was crowned champion after defeating Al-Nassr in a penalty shootout.
