French press reports stated that former French international striker Wissam Ben Yedder, aged 35, is close to joining Wydad Athletic Club during the current winter transfer window.

According to the French site Foot Mercato, Ben Yedder, who is currently playing for the Turkish team Sakaryaspor after transferring there a few months ago, informed his club's management of his desire to leave and join Wydad to strengthen the team's attacking line.

During his short stint with the Turkish club, Ben Yedder participated in several matches and scored a number of goals before turning his attention to a new opportunity in Morocco, with a club leading the professional league and aiming to achieve local and continental titles this season.

Ben Yedder has previously played for several prominent clubs, most notably the Spanish club Sevilla and the French club Monaco.
