Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo revealed that German midfielder Leon Goretzka has expressed his desire to return to work under his former coach Hans Flick, the current head coach of Barcelona, as his contract with Bayern Munich approaches its end in June.

According to the newspaper, the 30-year-old Goretzka still holds great appreciation for Flick, who gave him an important role during their time together at Bayern Munich. He has already sent indirect messages to the German coach confirming his readiness to play again under his leadership, amid Bayern's lack of enthusiasm to renew his contract.

The newspaper pointed out that Goretzka regularly participates in the Bundesliga under Vincent Kompany's leadership, but he does not get many opportunities in the Champions League. Additionally, Bayern's management is not considering making a strong offer to extend his contract, opting instead for a short-term deal with a significant salary reduction.

The report added that several European clubs are closely monitoring the player's situation, at a time when Barcelona's midfield lineup currently appears complete, making any potential move dependent on Hans Flick's own vision, who had previously considered signing Goretzka last season to strengthen the physical aspect of the midfield.
