Beckham Reveals Behind the Scenes of His Move to Real Madrid Instead of Barcelona
Former English star David Beckham revealed exciting details about his transfer to Real Madrid, confirming that the royal club was always his first choice while he was at Manchester United.
Beckham said in a press statement: "My team in Spain has always been Real Madrid."
He added: "In fact, I was sold to Barcelona while I was on vacation, and Manchester United informed me that the offer from Barcelona had been accepted."
He concluded: "I told them that if they wanted to sell me, I only wanted Real Madrid, and after just a day and a half, the offer from Real Madrid came."
Beckham joined Real Madrid in 2003 for 36 million euros from Manchester United, before transferring in 2007 to LA Galaxy on a free transfer.
The former English star played 159 matches for Real Madrid in all competitions, scoring 20 goals and providing 52 assists.
