Al-Talaba team achieved an important victory over their traditional rival Al-Shorta in the Baghdad capital derby, as part of the eighth round of the Iraqi Stars League, in the match held at the International City Stadium, which witnessed a lower than expected crowd attendance.

The first half started with great balance between the two teams, where negative performance dominated the match, with few real chances on both goals, ending the first half with a goalless draw 0-0.

At the beginning of the second half, Al-Talaba began to impose their style, and Tunisian Habib Al-Waslati managed to score the first goal in the 63rd minute, benefiting from an organized pass, as the ball settled in Al-Shorta's net, giving the lead to Al-Talaba's squad.

Al-Shorta tried to come back in the match by pressing on Al-Talaba's defenses and intensifying offensive attempts, but the solid defense and tactical organization of Al-Talaba prevented the score from being equalized, successfully maintaining their lead until the end of the match.

With this important victory, Al-Talaba's points rose to 14, occupying fifth place in the standings, while Al-Shorta's points remained at 15 in fourth place, as Al-Shorta continues to suffer from poor performance and the absence of positive results expected by their fans this season.
