The situation of German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen with the German national team has entered a critical phase, due to his limited playing time with Barcelona since his recent recovery and return to the field.

Rudi Völler, the team's sporting director, emphasized the importance of regular participation for Ter Stegen if he aspires to play in the World Cup, stating in an interview with Kicker magazine: "If he wants to go to the World Cup, he has to play, whether it's at Barcelona or any other club."

Füller added that everyone would be happy for him if, after many years under Manuel Neuer, he finally gets a real opportunity to guard the goal in the tournament.

Füller explained that Ter Stegen has been in constant contact with the national team's technical staff, especially with Germany's goalkeeping coach Andreas Kronenberg over the past few months, to closely monitor his condition ahead of the January transfer window.

Regarding the selection of Germany's starting goalkeeper for the World Cup, Füller confirmed that the decision is still open with coach Julian Nagelsmann, and much depends on Ter Stegen's situation and what will happen with him in the coming period. He pointed out that Oliver Baumann has been performing excellently so far, but Ter Stegen remains a viable option that requires ongoing monitoring based on his appearances with Barcelona.
