Sunday 21-12-2025
German coach Matthias Jaissle, head coach of Saudi club Al-Ahli, emphasizes that the match against Iraqi club Al-Shorta represents an important opportunity to give the substitute players more time to showcase their abilities in the AFC Champions League Elite tournament.

Al Ahly is preparing to face Iraqi Police on Monday evening at Al-Zawraa Stadium, in the sixth round of the continental competition, in a match that carries a different significance compared to previous encounters.

During the introductory press conference, Jaissle explained that the match is different from last season's encounter, noting that it presents a new challenge, especially given the absence of several players from the team.

The Al-Ahly coach emphasizes that the team's goal remains the same in every match: to achieve victory. He also affirms that every coach wishes to have all of their players available without exception.

Jaissle points out that the match against the police team provides an ideal opportunity to test the substitute players and assess their readiness and ability to make a contribution when needed.

The match between Al-Ahli and Al-Shorta in the AFC Champions League Elite will kick off tomorrow, Monday, at 9:15 PM Mecca time and 10:15 PM Abu Dhabi time.

Al Ahly occupies fourth place in the West Group standings with 10 points, having achieved three wins, one draw, and one loss during their campaign in the tournament.
