Spanish club Real Sociedad officially announced on Saturday the appointment of American Pellegrino Matarazo as the new head coach of the first team.

Matarazo was appointed as the successor to coach Sergio Francisco, whose contract was terminated by the management due to declining results and failure to achieve the set goals in recent times.

The decision to dismiss Sergio Francisco came after a series of unstable results in the Spanish league competitions, prompting the club's management to intervene in search of technical solutions to get the team back on the right track and ensure maintaining its competitive presence both domestically and continentally.

Matarazo, who is 48 years old, is a well-known name in the European coaching scene, having accumulated significant experience in the German league, most notably leading the teams Stuttgart and Hoffenheim.
