Theo Hernandez Reveals the Behind-the-Scenes of His Forced Departure from Milan and His Choice of Al Hilal
Saturday 20-12-2025
French left-back Theo Hernandez of Al Hilal revealed shocking details about his departure from AC Milan and his move to the Saudi league during last summer's transfer window, confirming that his exit was not by choice but resulted from internal administrative pressures within the Italian club.

Hernandez told the Italian newspaper Gazzetta that he did not demand excessive financial terms to renew his contract with Milan, nor did he seek to leave, emphasizing that the rumors about this matter are untrue. He added, "I deserved better treatment, and some of my teammates encouraged me to continue."

The Al Hilal player explained the reason for agreeing to the transfer, saying that coach Simone Inzaghi played an important role in the decision after asking him, "Shall we go win together?" He pointed to the good relationship between them and emphasized his respect for the coach's character both on and off the field, with some jokes exchanged between them about losing the Super Cup in Riyadh.

Hernandez addressed the rumors about him rejecting an offer from Como in January 2024, denying any knowledge of the matter altogether. He confirmed that his agent did not inform him of any offer and reiterated his denial of claims that he demanded large sums of money or pressured to leave Milan.

The French international concluded his statement by emphasizing that he wanted to continue with Milan, but he faced a direct threat of being excluded from the squad if he stayed, saying, "What else could I do then? Look for another club." He also expressed doubt about returning to Milan anytime soon, affirming his full focus on winning titles with Al-Hilal.
