Guardiola Confirms Absence of Four Key Players Against West Ham
Saturday 20-12-2025
Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, confirmed that the team will face West Ham United on Saturday without four key players due to injuries.

In his statements before the match, Guardiola said: "We will see how the game goes tomorrow. We have five days, then Nottingham Forest, and after that Sunderland. Some players might start returning in the upcoming matches, but not tomorrow."

Regarding the latest updates on the injured players, he added: "Rodri, John Stones, and Jeremy Doku will remain out of the lineup as they were in the Brentford match in the Carabao Cup. Oscar Bob is also still recovering from his injury sustained against Brentford and will miss the upcoming match against West Ham."

Regarding West Ham and their difficulty this season, Guardiola said: "We are prepared. They haven't achieved good enough results, but they recently drew at Old Trafford and Brighton, and we know how tough they are."

He continued: "They only lost in the end to Aston Villa last week, who now seem unstoppable. It looks like they are going through a tough moment, but they always have top-class players. We respect West Ham, but at the same time, we are ready."

Guardiola added: "Every away match is tough, and we have to give our best to win the game. These matches require the highest levels of focus and effort."

Regarding the history of matches between Manchester City and West Ham, he said: "Since I took over coaching City, we have won every home game against West Ham. Our matches with the London team are always exciting, and the recent match history confirms that, such as Haaland setting the single-season Premier League record in May 2023, and our 3-1 victory in May 2024 thanks to goals from Foden and Rodri."

Guardiola emphasized the importance of maintaining the pace of performance: "We have to keep giving our best, and the players understand the significance of every match and the difference we can make."
