Final Decision Regarding the Saudi Arabia vs UAE Match in the Arab Cup
Friday 19-12-2025
The organizing authorities have finalized their decision to cancel the match between the Saudi Arabia and UAE national teams in the Arab Cup tournament, officially withdrawing from completing the match due to bad weather conditions.

The cancellation decision came after the match was stopped following the end of the first half, due to heavy rainfall that made it unsafe to resume play.

The newspaper "Asharq Al-Awsat" reported that the Chilean referee Christian Garay officially decided to cancel the match after assessing the condition of the pitch and deeming it unfit.

The UAE national team coach Cosmin Olăroiu, along with French coach Hervé Renard of the Saudi national team, refused to continue the match out of concern for the players' safety.

The match, held at Khalifa International Stadium, was part of the third-place playoff in the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 and was stopped with the score tied at 0-0.

The first half saw a goal disallowed for Saudi Arabia in the 19th minute, scored by Salem Al-Dawsari, after the referee ruled it offside.

It is noted that the UAE team had exited the tournament in the semifinals after losing 3-0 to Morocco, while the Saudi team was eliminated in the same round following a 1-0 defeat to Jordan.
