Strong sanctions on the Malaysian national team due to forgery

Thursday 18-12-2025
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) imposed severe sanctions on the Malaysian Football Association, including ruling the Malaysian national team as having lost 0-3 in three friendly matches, one of which was against Palestine, due to violations related to player eligibility.

FIFA explained that the penalty was imposed after it was proven that forged documents were used for several players born outside Malaysia, who did not meet the eligibility criteria to represent the national team, leading to the annulment of the match results held during the past year.

The sanctions also included imposing an additional financial fine on the Malaysian federation, which in turn announced its rejection of the decision, affirming its intention to file an official appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
