Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin celebrates Copa del Rey round of 16 qualification
Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin appeared in a press statement after qualifying for the round of 16 in the Copa del Rey, following a 3-2 victory over Talavera in the round of 32 of the tournament.
Lunin, who wore the captain's armband for the first time, said: "Thank you very much. Thanks to the rest of the team who were not present. The captain's armband is a great honor. There is a lot of hard work behind the scenes, and I am very grateful to everyone."
He added: "Qualifying for the next round is a good thing because we had to qualify. The cup competition is different. Matches are always different and very challenging. I wished we could have qualified without conceding any goals, but we are now in the round of 16, and we have to continue the journey."
Regarding David Jiménez and Cestero's debut: "Congratulations on your first appearance. You both were amazing—calm and confident. You played as if you have been performing well for a long time. In Castilla, you train with the first team... congratulations."
He concluded about the Talavera fans: "That's why I say the cup is different. Because we see the people, the joy. It is a beautiful celebratory day. It's wonderful to be here."
