English player Harvey Barnes of Newcastle United is enjoying the best period of his season, delivering an impressive performance with the Magpies, both in the Premier League and the Champions League.

Barnes, who joined Newcastle from Leicester City in the summer of 2023 for a fee of 44 million euros, hadn't attracted much attention since his arrival at St. James' Park, but this season things are different.

The player, who plays in several advanced midfield positions, managed to score 7 goals and provide 2 assists in 23 matches. He scored 4 goals and assisted once in just 6 matches in the Champions League.

One of the matches in which he excelled was against the Portuguese team Benfica, when he came on in the second half and scored two goals, helping his team secure a 3-0 victory. After that game, Benfica's coach José Mourinho said, "Having a player like Barnes on the bench is a great luxury. He came on and completely turned the match around."

Barnes is expected to gain greater importance in the upcoming phase, and why not be included in England's World Cup squad, despite the presence of many outstanding players in his position.
