Dr. Andreas Harlas Nuyking, the doctor for the German team Jahn Regensburg, was awarded the FIFA Fair Play Award for 2025 in recognition of his heroic actions that saved the life of a fan during a match last April.

Harlas Nuyking, a specialist in sports medicine and surgery, has held the position of team doctor since 1995, contributing his expertise to the care of both players and fans alike.

The incident occurred during an important match in the German Second Division between Regensburg and Magdeburg at Magdeburg's stadium, when a fan of the home team fainted in the stands, causing the celebrations and cheers to come to an abrupt halt.

Quickly, Harlas Nuyking moved to the fans' section, jumped over the barrier, and saved the injured fan through immediate resuscitation. He also ensured the fan's condition was stable before transferring him to the local hospital for necessary medical care.

This decisive and life-saving initiative has been regarded as a model to be emulated in upholding the values of football, earning it the FIFA Fair Play Award. This award is given to any player, coach, team, referee, individual fan, or fan group in recognition of exemplary fair play behavior both on and off the field.
