Tuesday 16-12-2025
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) announced the crowning of Italian Gianluigi Donnarumma as the Best Male Goalkeeper of 2025, for the first time in his professional career, in recognition of his outstanding performance during the past season.

Donnarumma enjoyed an exceptional season with his former club Paris Saint-Germain, contributing to the winning of four different titles, most notably the 2024/2025 UEFA Champions League after keeping a clean sheet in the final against Inter Milan. He also displayed outstanding performances in the earlier rounds of the tournament.

In addition, the Italian goalkeeper won three domestic titles: the French League, the French Cup, and the French Super Cup, and helped his team reach second place in the 2025 Club World Cup.

After his move to Manchester City, Donnarumma outperformed a group of top global goalkeepers in the voting, including Alisson Becker, Thibaut Courtois, Emiliano Martínez, Manuel Neuer, David Raya, Yann Sommer, and Wojciech Szczęsny.

The winner was determined through a vote that included national men's team coaches, team captains, sports journalists, and fans on the official FIFA website, with each group accounting for 25% of the total points.

Donnarumma's crowning achievement reflects a season full of individual and team accomplishments, affirming his status as one of the best goalkeepers in the world today.
