Will Milan Face the Donnarumma Scenario with Maignan?
Tuesday 16-12-2025
Football Italia reported that AC Milan's management is giving utmost importance to renewing the contract of their French goalkeeper Mike Maignan before his contract expires in June 2026, to avoid losing him for free as happened with Gianluigi Donnarumma in 2021.

Milan will resume talks with Maignan in the coming days, but with January approaching, the French goalkeeper can start official negotiations with any other club and complete a free transfer at the end of the current season. Milan has previously faced a similar situation with Donnarumma, which prompted the club to sign Maignan from Lille before Donnarumma left for free to Paris Saint-Germain.

It is worth mentioning that Maignan attracted interest from clubs like Chelsea last summer, and many English clubs continue to closely monitor his development. Milan is aware that any English club might offer better terms to sign the 30-year-old goalkeeper, but the Rossoneri are betting on reaching an agreement soon.

According to the same source, renewing Maignan's contract is a priority for Milan, as coach Massimiliano Allegri seeks to convince the French goalkeeper to sign a new deal, reflecting the club's great confidence in his abilities.

The sporting director of Milan said that the club will soon resume negotiations with Maignan, who feels happy to stay at San Siro, confirming that reports about him demanding an annual contract worth 8 million euros are not true.
