Bayern Munich will have to face the upcoming period without their captain and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, after he sustained a muscle injury during the team's match against Mainz in the German Bundesliga.

Neuer suffered a muscle fiber tear in the back of his right thigh during the Sunday match held at Allianz Arena, after which he underwent thorough medical examinations.

The medical examinations conducted by Bayern Munich's medical department confirmed the nature of the injury, which will force the German international goalkeeper to be temporarily sidelined, although the club has not yet officially specified the duration of his absence.

But the good thing is that the Bavarian team, after their match against Heidenheim next week, will have a break from matches for several weeks.
