Al-Ahli Shocks Mahrez with a Decision Expected in the Coming Period
Saturday 13-12-2025
The management of Al-Ahli Saudi Club has decided not to open the file for extending the contract of the Algerian international Riyad Mahrez, the first football team's winger, despite the current season coming to an end, according to the newspaper "Asharq Al-Awsat."

The newspaper explained that Al-Ahli's management sees two main reasons for neglecting the contract renewal: first, Mahrez's contract runs until the summer of 2027, and second, his age, as he is over 34 years old, making the renewal not a current priority.

Mahrez joined the ranks of Al-Ahli Jeddah in the summer of 2023, coming from Manchester City on a four-year contract lasting until June 2027, becoming one of the team's standout stars since then.

This season, the player participated in 19 matches across all competitions, scoring 4 goals and providing 7 assists, significantly contributing to the team's offensive performance.

Throughout his career with Al-Ahli, Mahrez played 97 matches in all competitions, scoring 33 goals and providing 42 assists, according to Transfermarkt, highlighting his significant impact on the team.

The Algerian player contributed to bringing Al-Ahli back to the winner's podium by winning the 2024-25 Elite AFC Champions League title and the 2025 Saudi Super Cup, despite the management's neglect to renew his contract so far.
