Al-Ahli Saudi Club has decided to extend the contracts of two first-team players, Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and Brazilian defender Roger Ibáñez, to strengthen technical stability in the upcoming period, according to the newspaper "Asharq Al-Awsat."

The newspaper confirmed that Al-Ahli's management has reached an official agreement with the duo to renew their contracts, with Mendy's contract being extended for two additional seasons, while Ibanez will receive a new contract lasting three seasons.

Mendy, 33 years old, joined Al Ahly in the summer of 2023 on a three-year contract. This season, he has played 18 matches, keeping a clean sheet in 7 of them and conceding 20 goals.

The 27-year-old Ibáñez joined from Roma in Italy on a contract lasting until 2027. He has participated in 17 matches this season, scoring one goal, while delivering an impressive defensive performance that has contributed to the team's defensive strength.

Extending the contracts of the duo is considered an important step to maintain the team's core pillars, especially after Al Ahly's recent success at both the continental and domestic levels.

Mendy and Ibanhez played a significant role in Al-Ahli's return to the winner's podium, after winning the 2025 AFC Champions League Elite title and the Saudi Super Cup, highlighting their technical and leadership importance to the team.
