Gerard Martín Returns to Barcelona Training
Friday 12-12-2025
Barcelona's team held their final training session this morning, Friday, at the Joan Gamper Sports City ahead of their match against Osasuna on Saturday as part of the 16th round of the Spanish league. The session saw the return of defender Gerard Martín to group training, according to the Spanish newspaper "Sport."

Martin missed Thursday's training due to a minor illness, but he has fully recovered and is now ready to be included in the team's lineup for the upcoming match. The player wearing jersey number 18 has a strong chance of returning to the starting lineup as the left center-back, a role in which he has performed exceptionally well in recent games.

The idea of relying on Martin as the left center-back emerged during Barcelona's Asian tour in the summer, before he solidified his position after the recent international break. Since the team's return to competition, he has started in five out of six matches, with the only game he didn't start being the 3-0 loss to Chelsea, where he came on as a substitute in the 79th minute.

Martín started in the matches against Athletic Bilbao, Alavés, Atlético Madrid, Real Betis, and Eintracht Frankfurt, completing the full 90 minutes on four occasions. He also took advantage of the big win at La Cartuja to manage his efforts and get some rest.

Coach Hans Flick continues to praise the player's behavior and his ability to play in multiple positions within the team, alongside his teammate Eric Garcia, who has renewed his contract until 2031.
