Renard Prepares an Offensive Surprise for Al-Akhdar Before Facing Palestine in the Arab Cup
Thursday 11-12-2025
The head coach of the Saudi national team, Hervé Renard, has adopted a new tactical plan in preparation for the match against Palestine in the quarterfinals of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, scheduled to take place at Lusail Stadium in Doha.

Press reports indicated that Renard reinstated the trio of Nawaf Al-Aqidi, Salem Al-Dawsari, and Hassan Tembakti to the starting lineup during the latest tactical drill, in a move aimed at strengthening cohesion and power ahead of the match.

The French coach plans to rely on Firas Al-Buraikan as a key player in the attack, taking advantage of his ability to apply early pressure and capitalize on quick transitions, which are elements that Renard depends on in his offensive style.

Al-Aqidi and Al-Dosari participated in all parts of the maneuver, while Timbuktu took part in the second part, during training sessions held at one of Aspire's fields as part of the final preparations for the anticipated match.

The starting lineup is expected to be finalized during the technical meeting before the match, scheduled to take place on Thursday evening, according to a report by the Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiyah today.

The match will be officiated by an Egyptian referee team led by Amin Omar, with Mahmoud Abu Al-Rijal as the first assistant and Ahmed Tawfiq Talib as the second assistant. The team also includes New Zealanders Campbell Kirk and Isaac Travis, along with Englishman Jared Gaulty serving as the video assistant referee and Saivakorn Bo as the video technology assistant.
