Al Ahly Begins Negotiations to Sign Pablo Sabbagh in Preparation for January Transfer Window
Wednesday 10-12-2025
Officials of Al Ahly Club have begun their official efforts to sign Pablo Sabbagh, the Colombian striker of Syrian descent who plays for South Korea's Suwon FC, to strengthen their attacking line during the upcoming winter transfer window.

According to Al-Youm Al-Sabea newspaper, Al-Ahly's management has submitted an official offer to their counterparts at Suwon FC to discuss the possibility of signing Pablo Sabbagh, awaiting the Korean club's response to the offer in the coming days.

Al Ahly's move towards signing Sabbagh came after their negotiations with Ivorian striker Ibrahim Diabate from Swedish club GAIS stalled due to his club's high financial demands. GAIS requested $3.5 million for the player's transfer, an amount that Al Ahly's management considered excessive.

The newspaper explained that Danish head coach Jess Thorup has given the green light to Al-Ahly's management to proceed with negotiations for Pablo Sabbagh, due to his confidence in the player's technical abilities.

It was also revealed that Al-Ahly held a video conference session with the player to agree on the personal terms, a step that reflects the club's seriousness in finalizing the deal during the upcoming January transfer window.
