Football Italia revealed that Roma has already opened negotiations with Manchester United to sign Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee during the winter transfer window.

Roma plans to reshape its attacking line in January, as the club is set to send Ivan Ferguson back to Brighton in preparation for signing a new striker. Zirkzee is the top target on the Giallorossi's list after receiving approval from the coaching staff led by Gian Piero Gasperini.

Zirkzee is struggling with limited playing time at Manchester United this season, having scored only one goal in 9 matches, while Roma is currently alternating between Ferguson and Artem Dovbyk in the center-forward position, relying on Paulo Dybala as a false nine when fit.

Reports indicate that negotiations between the two clubs are progressing daily, but finalizing the deal depends on reaching an agreement on the financial terms, especially as Manchester United prefers a permanent sale or an obligatory purchase commitment, whereas Roma aims to sign the player with a conditional purchase option based on achieving specific targets.

Zirkzee has previous experience in the Italian league, having played for Bologna and Parma, scoring 13 goals and providing 7 assists in 57 Serie A appearances.
