Milan Considers Signing Real Madrid Goalkeeper
Sunday 07-12-2025
AC Milan continues to explore its options for the goalkeeper position in case star Mike Maignan leaves, whose contract expires in summer 2026, amid stalled renewal negotiations due to a significant gap between the player's demands and the club's offer.

Reports from Italy indicate that Maignan is demanding an annual salary of up to 8 million euros, while Milan insists on an offer of only 5 million euros, increasing the likelihood of his departure on a free transfer. The French goalkeeper is also attracting interest from several major European clubs, most notably Juventus, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain, and he can start negotiating with them from next January.

According to the website "Football Italia," Milan has identified Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, a Real Madrid player, as the first choice to replace Maignan if he leaves. Other reports estimate Lunin's value at around 25 million euros, as he is considered a reliable backup at Real Madrid and possesses strong European experience.

Lunin is represented by the famous Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes, who has special ties with Milan, especially after the club successfully completed several deals with him recently, such as Rafael Leão, João Félix, and Estupiñán.

Reports also confirm that Milan is counting on a possible role for star Luka Modrić, who has had a strong relationship with Lunin during the seven seasons they spent together at Real Madrid, and he might help convince the goalkeeper to move to San Siro next summer.

In this scenario, Lunin remains one of the top candidates to succeed Maignan, at a time when pressure is mounting on Milan’s management to finalize the future of the goalkeeper position before the end of the season.
