Ayman Hussein Raises Doubts Before Facing Algeria
Iraqi national team striker Ayman Hussein caused a wave of concern inside the Lions of Mesopotamia camp after his statements that opened the door to the possibility of his absence from the anticipated match against Algeria next Tuesday, as part of the third round of the 2025 Arab Cup in Qatar.
Despite missing the Sudan match, Ayman appeared in statements saying: "Today the team was remarkable despite the major changes in the lineup. We saw new faces that proved their ability to represent Iraq in the most important forums, which confirms that the team has a strong base capable of carrying the emblem at any time."
Hussein added: "Today's victory gave the team an extra dose of confidence before facing Algeria, and the national team will approach the Algeria match with the goal of winning or at least drawing to maintain the top spot in the group, which will be very important in determining the team's path in the upcoming stages."
Ayman emphasized that he is satisfied with his teammates' performance despite his absence, saying: "I did not participate today, but I was a supporter of the team from the outside. Everyone was on point. The changes were significant, reaching seven players, yet the players proved their readiness and ability to bear responsibility."
Regarding his health condition, Ayman Hussein said: "I am still undergoing treatment and rehabilitation under the supervision of the medical staff. So far, I do not know if I will be ready for the Algeria match or not, but if I cannot participate, God willing, I will be present in the next round."
