Barcelona Changes Its Travel Route Due to Seville Airport Closure
Sunday 07-12-2025
The Spanish newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo' revealed a sudden crisis faced by the Barcelona club delegation this morning, after the plane bound for Seville was unable to take off in preparation for the match against Real Betis this evening at La Cartuja Stadium, due to the temporary closure of Seville Airport because of dense fog.

The newspaper mentioned that Barcelona players, technical staff, and management found themselves stuck inside the plane waiting for the weather conditions to improve.

Before the club had to activate an alternative plan, the newspaper explained that the first plan was to head to the city of Malaga and then continue the journey by road to Seville, a trip taking about two hours.

The newspaper added that the club later decided to change the destination to Jerez Airport, which is just under an hour's drive from Seville. Mundo Deportivo noted that if the weather conditions improve during the flight, the plane will head directly to land at Seville Airport as originally planned.
