Liverpool and Tottenham Compete with Barcelona to Sign Leipzig Talent
Friday 05-12-2025
The Spanish newspaper "Sport" reported that FC Barcelona continues to explore options to strengthen the left-wing position in the upcoming period, despite having the option to sign Marcus Rashford permanently. The newspaper explained that one of the names recently linked to Barça is Yann Demaine, the current RB Leipzig player and former Leganés player, who is known for his high speed and previous experience in La Liga.

Sport indicated that the progress of the negotiations may not be in Barcelona's favor, as journalist Sasha Tavolieri revealed that Liverpool and Tottenham have advanced in the race. Both clubs have entered into advanced talks with Leipzig to discuss the terms of a potential deal, with the possibility of finalizing the transfer during the winter transfer window.

The newspaper added that Leipzig's financial demands make the deal nearly impossible for Barcelona, as the German club plans to sell the player for an amount that could exceed what Manchester City paid to acquire Gvardiol—around 90 million euros. If the deal goes through for more than this amount, it would become the most expensive transfer in Leipzig's history, considering they signed the player last summer for only 20 million euros.

Sport confirmed that the Premier League clubs' ability to pay large sums gives Liverpool and Tottenham a clear advantage, placing them at the forefront of the contenders to sign the player.

The newspaper also highlighted Diomandé's statistics this season, noting that he scored four goals and provided four assists in 14 matches with Leipzig, including three goals and three assists in the Bundesliga, and one goal and one assist in the German Cup.

The newspaper pointed out that the player delivered an impressive performance last season with Leganés, despite being unable to prevent the team from relegation. He scored two goals and provided one assist, and possesses great skills in dribbling, speed, and boldness, which has made him a target for several major clubs in Europe.
