Dalot: This is Our Goal, and We Feel Great Disappointment
Friday 05-12-2025
Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot appeared in press statements following the draw against West Ham United at the conclusion of the fourteenth round of the English Premier League.

Dalot said in his speech, "We feel disappointed. When you lead 1-0 with 30 minutes left, you should control the game more, especially at Old Trafford. We can't become this anxious after scoring the goal. Perhaps we were too hasty in ball possession."

He added: "Clearly, we feel disappointed with the draw. The match was in our hands."

Regarding the team's lack of control: "This is the solution we must find. There may be multiple reasons. This should not happen because you fight for 60 minutes to score a goal, and when it happens, you must continue doing the same things, even increase control and keep the ball longer so we are the dominant team, especially in the play that led to the corner kick from which the goal came. This type of play must be avoided, especially against teams skilled in counterattacks."

He emphasized: "We knew today that they would look for counterattacks and set pieces, and unfortunately, we couldn't maintain the result. In the end, we have to blame ourselves—I think the mistake was more ours than West Ham's."

Regarding scoring his first Premier League goal at Old Trafford: "It’s a great feeling. Every time you get the chance to score with a club like this, it’s amazing, especially in the opposite stands. But in the end, the feeling isn’t as it should be; I would have exchanged it for three points without hesitation. But I’m happy to have helped the team in any way, whether with a goal or otherwise, but such a result gives you something to reconsider. We cannot be ahead on our home ground with 30 minutes remaining and then not control the game."

He concluded: "I think it’s a significant result in terms of impact. We are at a period in the season where you cannot afford to lose many points, or else the gap with the top teams will widen. This season, the gap is still short, but a time will come when everyone starts to pull away, and we want to be there. We want to be among the top four or five. This is the goal, and we must be in that position."
