Al Ahly club officials consider Modern Sport midfielder Ghanam Mohamed as one of the options to strengthen the midfield, in case the club fails to reach an agreement with the Malian player Aliou Dieng to renew his contract, which expires at the end of the current season. Al Ahly aims to secure a strong replacement in anticipation of the Malian player's departure during the upcoming winter transfer window.

According to Al-Youm Al-Sabea website, Al-Ahly's management is monitoring Ghanam Mohamed's performance during his participation with the Egyptian national team in the 2025 Arab Cup currently held in Qatar, as a step towards making a final decision about signing him in January. The player is considered one of the prominent names in midfield, both defensively and offensively, making him a suitable option to replace Diang.

The report added that Al-Ahly will determine its next step based on Ghanam's performance in the tournament, whether to proceed with negotiations or abandon the idea. The management also aims to use the international match period to comprehensively assess the player's abilities before taking official action.

The website indicated that Al-Ahli's management has given Aliou Dieng a 48-hour deadline to respond to the latest offer regarding the renewal of his contract. If the player refuses, Al-Ahli will move to sell him in the upcoming January transfer window to gain financially and avoid losing him for free at the end of the season.
