Queiroz Attacks Saudi and Oman Referee Over Boushal Incident
Tuesday 02-12-2025
Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz, head of the Oman national team, launched a sharp attack on Jordanian referee Adham Mukhadam, who officiated the Saudi Arabia vs. Oman match in the first round of the 2025 Arab Cup in Qatar.

Queiroz pointed out that the referee's decision angered him, especially after the refusal to show a red card to Nawaf Boushal, despite the play being reviewed via video technology. He emphasized that such a mistake is unacceptable in matches of this importance.

The Portuguese coach added in his statements to "beIN Sports" that he reviewed the game using his personal computer, explaining that this decision affected the course of the match and hindered his tactical perspective.

The Saudi Green Team won against Oman with a score of 2-1 in the match held as part of the Group 2 competition, earning their first three points and securing second place behind Morocco, who are leading the group.

Queiroz explained that Nawaf Boushal clearly deserved to be sent off, emphasizing that the referee's refusal to enforce this decision after reviewing the video disrupted the balance of the match, and that such decisions must be precise to avoid any controversy.

The Oman coach emphasized the importance of respecting correct refereeing decisions, especially with the use of video technology, affirming that the Omani team strives to play with strong sportsmanship despite any refereeing errors that may occur.
