The Reason for De Jong's Absence from the Atlético Madrid Match

FC Barcelona officially confirmed in their medical statement that Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong will not participate in the team's match against Atlético Madrid, scheduled for this evening at the Spotify Camp Nou, due to a fever. This marks De Jong's second consecutive absence, as he also missed the match against Athletic Bilbao for personal reasons.

The Spanish newspaper "Sport" explained that De Jong was unable to deliver his best performance in the last match he played against Chelsea, which ended with Barcelona losing 3-0. Since then, he has not participated with the team and will not be able to support his teammates against Atlético Madrid, led by Diego Simeone.

The club's medical statement indicated: "Frenkie de Jong will be absent from the Atlético Madrid match due to a high fever," adding that the player will join the list of absentees, which includes Fermín López, Gavi, Marc-André ter Stegen, and Ronald Araújo.

De Jong's absence comes at a critical time for Barcelona, which is looking to strengthen its position at the top of La Liga ahead of a major clash against Atlético Madrid.
