The Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, congratulated the Palestine national team after their victory over the Qatari team in the Arab Cup.

The Palestine national team defeated the Qatar national team 1-0 in the first round of the group stage of the Arab Cup.

Prince Tamim said on social media platforms: "We in the State of Qatar are pleased to welcome our Arab brothers to the Arab Cup tournament, and we wish all the participating teams the best of luck. We hope that our hearts will always come together in affection, brotherhood, and mutual respect, and that the tournament will achieve the desired impact in continuing to advance football in our dear Arab homeland."

Qatar player Sultan Al-Buraik scored an own goal in the 90+5th minute, leading to Palestine's victory and earning them their first 3 points in the group stage of the tournament.
