Felipe Luis.. A Coaching Project Steadily Rising to the Top
Sunday 30-11-2025
Brazilian Felipe Luis took his first steps in the world of coaching quietly and confidently, away from the noise, but with calculated steps that made him one of the most prominent young rising coaches in modern football.

Luis had announced his retirement from playing in December 2023, but he did not stay away from the pitch for long, as he returned in June 2024 to lead Flamengo's under-20 team, putting his coaching philosophy into practice from day one.

It did not take long for his impact to show; in August 2024, he led Flamengo's youth team to win the Under-20 World Cup, an achievement that grabbed the spotlight and drew attention to his tactical abilities and skill in handling emerging talents.

With this rapid success, the natural decision came the following month, as he was appointed head coach of the first team in September 2024, beginning a new, more challenging journey.

Since that moment, his mark has become clear. His team played with higher organization, stronger character, and greater ability to control the rhythm, knowing how to develop players and assign them roles that suit their capabilities, benefiting from his experience as a player with many European clubs and under the leadership of elite coaches.

Luis managed to lead Flamengo to win four major championships so far: the Brazilian Cup, the Carioca Championship, the Brazilian Super Cup, before being crowned yesterday with the Copa Libertadores title, while being just one step away from winning the Brazilian league title.

Since taking over Flamengo, the Brazilian coach has led his team in 84 matches, achieving 54 wins, drawing 21 matches, and losing only 9.

Many see Felipe Luis as one of the most important coaching projects of the new generation; a coach who combines the mentality of a great player with a modern coaching philosophy based on tactical intelligence, calmness, and discipline. Despite his limited experience, he has not hidden his ambition to one day coach a major European club... perhaps the same continent where he shined as a player, but this time from the technical area, not from inside the field.
