Saturday 29-11-2025
The Spanish newspaper "Sport" reported that Borussia Dortmund striker, Sergio Gvardiol, has returned to be among the interests of Barcelona club to sign him next summer. The reports clarified that the 29-year-old player has a release clause worth 50 million euros, applicable to only seven European clubs, including Barcelona, making the deal a suitable opportunity for the Catalan club.

Barcelona's interest in Gvardiol comes as part of the 2026/2027 season plan, as the team seeks to strengthen the attack line with a distinguished number 9 player, in addition to signing a left-back to return Kobarzi to his natural defensive position. Hans Flick has previously expressed his appreciation for Gvardiol, considering him an ideal option to enhance the attack line, especially if Robert Lewandowski's contract, which ends next June, is not renewed.

Barcelona’s interest is based on Gvardiol’s impressive statistics this season, as he scored 9 goals and assisted 4 in 17 matches across the Bundesliga and the German Cup. He also shined in the Champions League by scoring 3 goals and assisting 2 in 5 matches. The player has proven his ability to finish attacks and his strong performance in the final areas, which makes him one of the most prominent strikers in Europe.

The newspaper confirms that Barcelona's sports management will not engage in uncontrolled bidding wars with other English clubs, and the deal will be handled cautiously to ensure the success of the signing and maximize the club’s benefit in the attack line for the next season.
