A Painful Blow to Al-Ittihad Before Facing Al-Shabab in the King’s Cup
Al-Ittihad Club announced that Algerian midfielder Houssam Eddine Awal will be absent from the upcoming match against Al-Shabab in the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup on Saturday, due to a recent injury.
Al-Jazirah newspaper confirmed that Awal needs a treatment period of about two weeks before returning to participate with the team in official matches, making his participation against Al-Shabab impossible.
Al-Ittihad, led by their Portuguese coach Sergio Conceição, is preparing to face Al-Shabab in the King’s Cup quarter-final, a match eagerly anticipated by the fans of both teams.
The match will be played at the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, with the kickoff scheduled for 7:30 PM, amid expectations of a strong contest between the two teams.
Al-Ittihad qualified for the quarterfinals after defeating Al-Nassr 2-1, while Al-Shabab managed to overcome their opponent Al-Zulfi with a 1-0 victory in the round of 16. Both teams are now fully prepared for their upcoming match.
Conceição hopes to compensate for Awal's absence by relying on other players to fill the midfield gap, while maintaining the team's scoring ability and ensuring superiority over Al-Shabab.
