The Spanish League Association announced the appointment of referee Miguel Ángel Ortiz Arias to oversee the upcoming match between Barcelona and Alavés at Camp Nou.

This will be the second match he officiates for Barcelona this season, and the third for Alavés, having refereed seven matches in the current season.

The referee previously led Barcelona’s match in the sixth round when the Catalan team secured a 3-1 victory over Real Oviedo at Carlos Tartiere Stadium. As for Alavés, he has officiated two matches for them this season; the first was their 1-0 loss to Real Betis in the first round, and the second was their 3-1 win against Elche in the eighth round.

This will be the eleventh match he manages for Barcelona in the First Division, where the team has achieved eight wins, two draws, and suffered only one defeat, which dates back to the 2022/2023 season against Almería with a 1-0 scoreline. His first match officiating for Barcelona was in the 2021/2022 season when Barcelona won 3-1 against Celta Vigo at Camp Nou.

Regarding Alavés, he has officiated 12 previous matches for them, resulting in six wins, one draw, and five losses. Jorge Figueroa Vázquez will be responsible for video assistant referee duties during the match.
