Al Shabab Issues Decisive Request Ahead of Al Ittihad Clash in King’s Cup

Al Shabab Club took swift action ahead of the anticipated match against Al Ittihad in the quarterfinals of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup, scheduled for Saturday, November 29, at the Al Inma Stadium in King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.

The club, through its official spokesperson Turki Al-Ghamdi, confirmed during his appearance on the program "Nadina" that the management has submitted an official letter to the Football Association requesting the appointment of an elite foreign refereeing team, including the video assistant referee.

Al-Ghamdi emphasized that the message was sent early to give the referees committee the opportunity to select reputable names from Europe, or at least highly experienced international referees, to officiate the upcoming match against Al-Ittihad.

The spokesperson explained that the youth's demands stem from a desire to avoid any impactful mistakes during the match, noting that the club has suffered in previous games from refereeing decisions that affected its results, whether by local or foreign referees, particularly in the matches against Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli Jeddah.

He clarified that the Youth Administration is completely opposed to appointing unknown or inexperienced referees for this match, emphasizing that the team deserves a refereeing crew that matches the level of the event.

Al-Shabab secured their spot in the quarterfinals after defeating Al-Zulfi 1-0, while Al-Ittihad booked their place in the same round with a 2-1 victory over Al-Nassr.
