The Saudi Federation Considers Postponing Roshn League and King’s Cup

The Saudi Football Federation, in coordination with the Competitions Department of the Professional League Association, is considering postponing the tenth round of the Roshn League scheduled for December 19, if the Saudi national team reaches the final of the FIFA Arab Cup in Qatar.

Sources from Al-Riyadiyah newspaper indicated that the postponement might also include the King’s Cup semi-finals scheduled for March 16 and 17, with the Arab Championship final set for December 18, just one day before the league resumes, making it difficult for international players to participate with their clubs.

On August 11, the league announced a 112-day suspension of the Roshn League during the current season, which lasts 179 days. This pause coincides with the FIFA international windows, the AFC Champions League Elite and AFC Champions League 2 tournaments, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup, the Arab Cup, and the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

The league is paused for a total of 36 days due to FIFA international breaks, spread over four periods in September, October, November, and March. Additionally, there are 38 intermittent days allocated for continental competitions involving the clubs Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal, Al-Ahli, and Al-Nassr; 11 days for the King’s Cup; 22 days for the national team’s participation in the Arab Cup; and 5 days for the Eid holiday.

In a circular sent by the association to the clubs on August 1, the competitions department indicated that any changes in the national team's participation would be subject to review to assess their impact on the schedule, with clubs being notified of any additional adjustments if necessary.

This measure comes as part of the federation's efforts to ensure a balanced league schedule alongside international commitments, while maintaining the readiness of international players and the stability of domestic league and cup competitions.
