Carreiras: No Team Likes Facing Us, and the Atmosphere in the Locker Room Is Wonderful

Álvaro Carreiras, a player for Real Madrid, spoke to the media ahead of tomorrow's Wednesday match against Olympiacos in the fifth round of the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.

The Spanish defender said: "I am very happy to be playing my first season here, especially the Champions League, which is a very important tournament for the club. Olympiacos is a strong team, we are playing on their home ground, and it will be a tough match, but we have a great desire to play, and we are focused on winning all three points."

He added about the atmosphere in the locker room: "As I said since my arrival, the atmosphere in the locker room is wonderful. We have an amazing group, from the coach to the 25 players. The atmosphere among everyone is excellent, and there is a great relationship within the team. We have a young group, but the experienced players know how to lead the team when needed. I am very happy to be part of this group."

He continued: "When I join a new club, I always try to trust my ability to give my best. I hope to get more playing time in a long season full of matches. I was completely confident that things would go well, and I hope they continue that way."

He emphasized: "What I mentioned during my introduction is that I am here to help the team. My primary position is left-back, but I can play as a center-back, wing-back, or in a back line of five or four, in any position the coach asks for."

He added: "Analyzing opponents or enjoying playing? A bit of both. I love analyzing the opponent, the matches, and the players, even if I don’t always know who will start the game. I enjoy analyzing them, but I also like to have fun and play—that’s the true joy of football."

He concluded: "No team likes facing Real Madrid. It's tough, as this is a club with a great history and a prestigious name. I have never had the chance to play against Real Madrid before, whether by good or bad luck. We enter every stadium hungry for victory, with determination, and with the goal of earning all three points, which is what matters most to us."
