Tuesday 25-11-2025
The Moroccan national football team continues to solidify its presence among the strongest teams worldwide, after years of rapid development and continental and international brilliance, which culminated in the 2022 Qatar World Cup by reaching the semi-finals for the first time in the history of Arab and African teams.

FIFA revealed today, Tuesday, the classification of the teams participating in the 2026 World Cup, where 48 teams were divided into four pots based on the latest update of the world ranking, with the Moroccan team placed in the second pot alongside heavyweight teams such as Croatia, Colombia, Uruguay, Japan, Senegal, Iran, and others.

The four pots for the 2026 World Cup draw are as follows:

Pot 1:
Canada – Mexico – United States – Spain – Argentina – France – England – Brazil – Portugal – Netherlands – Belgium – Germany.

Pot 2:
Croatia – Morocco – Colombia – Uruguay – Switzerland – Japan – Senegal – Iran – South Korea – Ecuador – Austria – Australia.

Pot 3:
Norway – Panama – Egypt – Algeria – Scotland – Paraguay – Tunisia – Ivory Coast – Uzbekistan – Qatar – Saudi Arabia – South Africa.

Pot 4:
Jordan – Cape Verde – Ghana – Curaçao – Haiti – New Zealand, in addition to the winners from the European playoffs (A, B, C, D) and the global playoffs (FIFA Play-Off 1 and 2).

Expected scenarios for the Atlas Lions:

Morocco’s presence in the second pot indicates the possibility of being drawn into strong groups that may include heavyweight teams like Brazil, France, Germany, or Spain. The draw may also pair them with Arab or African teams from the third and fourth pots.

Despite the strength of potential opponents, the national team remains among the candidates to advance beyond the group stage, benefiting from the experience of its players in major European leagues, in addition to the technical stability that characterizes the current phase under the leadership of coach Walid Regragui.
