Al-Ahli Saudi Club cancels friendly with Manchester United and negotiates with Wydad
Thursday 27-11-2025
Al-Ahli Saudi Club has withdrawn from playing a friendly match against Manchester United during the upcoming international break, after the management considered the financial terms set by the English club to be excessive and inappropriate.

The newspaper "Al-Riyadiyah" revealed that Al-Ahli's management has completely halted negotiations due to the substantial financial demands set by Manchester United for holding the match next December.

Instead, Al Ahly club management has initiated new contacts with Morocco's Wydad Casablanca, aiming to organize a friendly match between the two teams during the league break next month.

The newspaper explained that Al-Ahli Club is currently awaiting a response from the Wydad management to finalize the date of the highly anticipated match, which will be held in the city of Jeddah if an official agreement is reached.

Al-Ahli is preparing before that to face Al-Qadsiah on Friday, in the quarterfinals of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup, in a match where the team is looking to get back on the winning track.

These preparations come after Al-Ahli's 1-0 loss to Sharjah of the UAE in the fifth round of the Elite AFC Champions League, prompting the management to seek a strong friendly match to restore balance to the team.
