Barcelona Seeks to Break Stamford Bridge Jinx

Tuesday 25-11-2025
The Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" revealed that Barcelona enters the highly anticipated match against Chelsea this Tuesday with great ambition to end a nearly 20-year streak without a win at Stamford Bridge, with the team's last victory there dating back to February 22, 2006.

The newspaper explained that the fans still remember that historic match in which Lionel Messi introduced himself to the world. The game saw Asier del Horno sent off after a violent tackle on the Argentine star, while Barcelona secured a 2-1 victory thanks to a goal by Samuel Eto'o and an own goal scored by John Terry.

The newspaper added that the Catalan team is looking to improve its away record against Chelsea, having played eight previous matches at Stamford Bridge, which ended with five defeats, two draws, and a single victory. The newspaper also pointed out that one of the two draws, which ended 1-1, felt like a victory, as it secured Barcelona's qualification to the Champions League final in Rome.

Barcelona's previous results at Chelsea's stadium:

11/5/1966: Chelsea 2-0 Barcelona "Inter-Cities Fairs Cup - Semi-final".

5/4/2000: Chelsea 3-1 Barcelona "Quarterfinal."

8/3/2005: Chelsea 4-2 Barcelona "Round of 16".

22/2/2006: Chelsea 1 - 2 Barcelona "Round of 16".

18/10/2006: Chelsea 1-0 Barcelona "Group Stage."

18/4/2012: Chelsea 1-0 Barcelona "Semi-final".

Barcelona hopes that today's match will mark the beginning of a historic change at the Blues' stadium, after a long-standing record of no away wins against Chelsea.
