Al-Zabiri: Ready to Wear the Senior National Team Jersey, Decision in Rekraki’s Hands
Sunday 30-11-2025
Yasser Al-Zabiri, star of the Moroccan under-20 national team, confirmed that he feels ready to join the ranks of the "Atlas Lions," but he emphasized that the decision to call him up remains in the hands of the national coach, Walid Regragui.

Al-Zabiri said in an interview with the Spanish newspaper "AS": "Honestly, I feel ready now, but the call-ups do not depend on me; they depend on coach Rekraki... The final decision is his."

He added that the coach spoke with the youth national team players after the U20 World Cup and asked them to focus on playing as starters for their clubs, as he may call up any of them at any time.

Al-Zabiri explained: "I work hard and focus on giving my best. I played as a starter against Porto, and I hope to continue improving, scoring goals, and showcasing my abilities to Rekraki."

He also considered that excelling in the Under-20 World Cup does not automatically guarantee a place in the senior national team, emphasizing that consistent performance with the club is the real key.

Dreaming of the Africa Cup in Morocco

Regarding the dream of representing Morocco in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Al-Zabiri said: "Who wouldn't dream of playing in the Africa Cup on home soil? It's a very big dream... Our goal is to win the title."

He added: "I will do everything in my power to be part of the national team and make the fans happy. And if I am not there, I will support the team and wish them the best."

In his statements, Zubairi continues to affirm his great ambition and strong desire to wear the national team's jersey, while awaiting Rekraki's decision.
