FC Barcelona is close to finalizing the renewal of Eric Garcia's contract, as both parties have reached a preliminary agreement after weeks of negotiations, according to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo."

Despite receiving an offer from Paris Saint-Germain led by Luis Enrique, Garcia preferred to stay at Barcelona, the club where he feels comfortable and a sense of belonging.

The newspaper explained that the new contract will extend until 2030, and the agreement has entered its final stage following the outstanding performance the player has recently delivered, especially against Athletic Bilbao, as he is considered one of the most relied-upon players in Hans Flick's lineup this season.

The newspaper also pointed out that Eric Garcia is highly respected within the locker room, and the management sees him as a potential future leader. Meanwhile, Flick is firmly committed to keeping him. After his loan spell at Girona and earlier hesitations, the player has regained his confidence thanks to increased playing time this season.
